Chincoteague Island Vacations Fishing
Chincoteague is known for some of the best fishing on Virginia's Eastern Shore. The rich fishing areas around Chincoteague and Assateague Islands are frequented by both salt and freshwater fish from hammerhead sharks and marlin to trout and black drum.  Website

Local Artists of Chincoteague
The town of Chincoteague is loaded with art galleries and shops featuring the work of local artists, crafts and carvers. Visitors can find original artwork that capture Chincoteague wildlife and nature.      Website

Chincoteague Ponies
The most famous event on Chincoteague Island is Pony Penning Days held on the last Wednesday and Thursday in July. This yearly event has drawn visitors from all over the world since 1925 who come to see the ponies swim across the channel and rounded up for auction.   Website

Chincoteague and Assateague Islands offer more outdoor activities than any other spot on Virginia’s Eastern Shore. From birding, biking, hiking and boating there are always fun activities the whole family can enjoy.

Ecotourism
Ecotourists visit this area to explore the many miles of unspoiled waterways, and trails through the woodlands. Located on the Atlantic Flyway the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge attracts hundreds of species of migrating birds and waterfowl that stay year round.
